An excerpt from the Society Snitch Column of The Daily Tabloid, dated September 21, 1928:
Everyone's talking about the private party, to be held by wealthy industrialist Augustus Lobo and his wife of 20 years, Blanche. The party, to be held on a private train, is in celebration of the latest business success of this well-known couple. It has been confirmed that the guests will include Mrs. Ariadne Gold, much bejewelled, recently widowed wife of Elmer Gold, the fabulously wealthy owner of many businesses in our fair city. Also planning to attend are former Inspector Chase Margrett and King Hardy, both very popular with the single ladies!
And an excerpt from the front page of The Daily Tabloid, dated September 30, 1928:
...the victim has been identified as Mrs. Ariadne Gold. Mrs. Gold's body was discovered strangled in her stateroom last night. Since the moving train falls under the jurisdiction of the railroad, they have engaged the services of retired Inspector Chase Margrett to investigate. Several suspects have already been interrogated and...
Notice to CCXV attendees:
Your assistance is requested in the investigation of the murder on board the Ornament Express. Information regarding the victim and suspects will be made available to you during the convention. Exhibits of clues and additional information will be forthcoming in the Con Suite (Maestro's) during the Social on Saturday, between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Appropriate refreshments will be served and a contest will be held to find the most adept detective. All aspiring detectives who provide the correct perpetrator, motive and the correct clues will be entered into a drawing. Several winners will be announced and presented with prizes during the Science Fiction/Fantasy Masquerade at half-time on Saturday.
