Miscellaneous Notes:

Poster Show

Costume-Con 37 would like to provide a space for informational costuming posters created by, you, the members.

If you have a project, technique, tip, or successful application concerning constructing, organizing, or designing costumes that you would like to share with the community you are invited to join us! This is an ideal opportunity if you either don’t want to head a panel or don’t think the information is enough to fill a panel time.

We will have space available along the walls of the Living Room as well as blue painter’s tape to attach the posters.

Guidelines:

  • Posters must be for a wall presentation, we will not have space for tri-folds.
  • They cannot be larger than standard poster board
  • Color photos are encouraged
  • Small samples and/or photos of your process are encouraged
  • If you would like to provide a hand-out with the information for take-away by attendees, we will set up a table for displaying these.

Examples of Topics:

  • Challenging dyeing technique that you have conquered
  • Embroidery techniques used in unusual ways
  • Hardware Store items you’d never think would be good for a costuming application
  • The challenges of long distant group costume organization: what kind of apps, programs, and communication avenues do you use?
  • Your most used or oddest distressing tips
  • Which glue is the best glue and why?
  • Your technique for determining what the artist meant by that squiggly line in a design (whether you were the artist or not)

Getting Your Poster to Con:
There are three options available to you! You may either:

  • bring it with you by plane, train, car, bus, boat, or broom
  • you may mail it ahead of Costume-Con to the following address:
    • Costume-Con 37 Poster Display
    • ℅ MCFI
    • PO Box 1010
    • Framingham, MA 01701
  • you may order it printed and pick it up at a close print shop.  These ones are accessible by hotel shuttle:
    • Fed Ex Print at Peabody Center, 240 Andover St, Peabody, MA 01960
    • Staples, 230 Independence Way, Danvers, MA 01923

Note: This is not a competitive show. We want to encourage the exchange of ideas without pressure to perform.

We will be holding a Meet and Greet for people to chat with poster creators at the convention! This is not required, but you are welcome to attend!

Hospitality Suite, Freebie Bag, and Fan Table
If your group or chapter wishes to host a slot in our Hospitality Suite, or have a Fan Table in our Living Room, please email [Removed].

We are offering the opportunity for you to put your group, convention, or business in front of over 400 self selected fannish sewing and crafting addicts via direct advertising or sponsorship. The souvenir bag will have the longest lifespan, definitely traveling home after the convention. Bag sponsorship is only $50 and will be limited. We can use a single color electronic version of your logo, or add the name and webpage. Remaining bag sponsorship slots are available until end of day Wednesday, March 13th, 2019. Please contact [Removed] as soon as possible
If you are interested in advertising in the 8.5”x5.5″ program book, space is still available. Please contact [Removed]; deadline is March 16th.

If you’re arriving on a plane to Logan Airport, the best transportation will be the Logan Express bus to Peabody. These are buses like Greyhounds with storage underneath for luggage and a driver who will help load and unload it for you. Be sure to take the Peabody express (purple color), there are Logan Express buses to other locations. For more information see http://www.massport.com/…/transp…/logan-express/peabody/
You can also take mass transit to the Beverly Commuter Rail Station. For more information and route planning see https://mbta.com/trip-planner
If arriving in Boston South Station by bus or Amtrak, it may be more efficient to take the Silver Line to Terminal A in Logan, and then Logan Express from there (rather than Red → Green → Commuter Rail.)
Once you arrive at Peabody Station or Beverly Station you can use the hotel shuttle. Call +1-978-777-2500 upon arrival and the hotel will dispatch a shuttle. The shuttle runs from 9am to 9pm, 7 days a week. If after hours, ask the bus driver to call a taxi for you and they will be waiting when the bus arrives.
There are also shared Van and Limo services which provide direct Logan to DoubleTree transportation that may be better for groups traveling together. One is GoBoston, and we have arranged a 10% discount by using the following link to book your reservation online: https://www.gobostonshuttle.com/group?code=BOSTON
We are looking forward to seeing everyone in a couple of weeks! If you have any questions, please email [Removed] (or send us a message on Facebook, but email is better.)
